RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />Board Memorandum <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIESDATE:JANUARY 8, 2018 <br />ITEM NO: 10 <br />SUBJECT:PUBLIC UTILITIES DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND PRIORITIES <br />ISSUE: <br />Receive an overview of the Public Utilities Department including an update from departing General <br />Manager, Girish Balachandran, on the state of the utilities and various priorities. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities receive and file this report. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Public Utilities Department was established in 1895 and currently serves approximately 318,000 <br />people through 110,000 electric meters and 65,000 water meters. Our mission statement is: Riverside <br />Public Utilities is committed to providing the highest quality water and electric services at the lowest <br />possible rates to benefit the community. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The General Manager’s last day with Riverside Public Utilities is January 19, 2018.
