RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br /> Board Memorandum <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIESDATE:MARCH29, 2018 <br />ITEM NO: 12 <br />SUBJECT:MARCH 2018 CALIFORNIAENERGY AND WATER LEGISLATIVE TRACKING REPORT <br />AND POSITION SUMMARY <br />ISSUE: <br />Receive and file March 2018 CaliforniaEnergy and Water Legislative Tracking Reportand Position <br />Summary. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilitiesreceiveand file thislegislative reportcovering Californialegislative <br />proposals. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Riverside Public Utilities(RPU)engagesin legislative policy discussions and advocacy to advance the <br />best interests of the City of Riverside and its ratepayers. RPU collaborates with the City’slegislative team, <br />Southern CaliforniaPublic Power Authority (SCPPA), andvarious associations including but not limited to <br />the California Municipal Utilities Association (CMUA), the Association of California Water Agencies <br />(ACWA), and the Groundwater Resources Association. <br />RPU’s legislative engagement is consistent with, and is designed to advance, the City’s approved <br />legislative platform. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The state energy and water bill report covers all actionable bills currently beingwatched by RPU staff <br />during the currentlegislative session. Also included in the report is a matrix that provides summary of <br />existing California energy and water legislation that Riversidehas taken positions on. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this report. <br />Prepared by: Daniel E.
