RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of Public UtilitiesapproveWork Order No. 1808451 for the Plaza Substation 4kV to 12kV conversion of Circuit 443(Phase 1)in the amount of $415,000. BACKGROUND: On July 10, 2017, the Board of Public Utilities (Board) received the Planned Routine Electric and Water Capital Projects Over $500,000 in fiscal year2017/18 report. The report provides an overview of the routineinfrastructure projects and highlights the importance of these capital improvement projects. Discussion of these projects was intended to provide context and familiarity to streamline Board approval of individual project actions throughout the fiscal year. One of the projects discussed was the planned voltage conversion of all remaining 4kV to 12kV distribution circuits to improve system capacity and reliability as recommended in the Electric System Master Plan (ESMP). This project is an important step in facilitatingfuture voltage conversionsby creating additionalelectrical field ties to existing 12kV circuits in the surrounding area, as well as createa new circuit tie back feed to Circuit 1355 from the Casa Blanca Substationwhich serves the Riverside Medical Clinic. Intermittent electric service disruptions will be coordinated during construction and advanced outage notifications will be issued to minimize the impact to customers. Page 14
