FOR GEOTECHNICAL INSPECTION SERVICES FOR THE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE JACKSON STREET RECYCLED WATER PIPELINE <br />PROJECT(PHASE I) –APPROVE THE INCREASEDEXPENDITURE OF $34,586FOR <br />A REVISED TOTAL OF $79,935.42 <br />ISSUE: <br />Approve the Second Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Geotek, Inc. for <br />Geotechnical Inspection Services for the construction of the Jackson Street Recycled Water Pipeline <br />Project (Phase I) —increasing the Agreement amount by$34,586fora revised total of $79,935.42to <br />provide geotechnical services (soils testing and inspection, subgrade compaction testing, asphalt tests, <br />and asphalt placement inspection) during construction of the remaining portions of theJackson Street <br />Recycled Water Pipeline Project (Phase I). <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />1.Approve the Second Amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Geotek, Inc. for <br />Geotechnical Inspection Services for the construction of the Jackson Street Recycled Water <br />Pipeline Project (Phase I) —increasing the Agreement amount by $34,586 for a revised total of <br />$79,935.42 to provide geotechnical services; and <br />2.Authorize the City Manager,or his designee,to execute the Second Amendment with Geotek, <br />Inc. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On June 12, 2017, the Board of Public Utilities (Board) awarded a contract for the construction of the <br />Jackson Street Recycled Water Pipeline Project (Phase I). Theproject will extend the existing 24-inch <br />recycled water pipeline that currently terminates at the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and <br />Jackson Streetto the intersection of Jackson Street and Cleveland Avenue. The work involvesthe <br />construction of 15,600 linear feet of 24-inchrecycled water pipeline along Jackson Street, Magnolia <br />Avenue, and Monroe Streetand 3,100 linear feet of 8-inch recycled water pipelinealong Central <br />Avenue. <br />Thisnew pipeline will expand Riverside Public Utilities’ (RPU) recycled water system by providing <br />recycled water service to customers along its proposed alignment, and it will serve as a backbone for <br />potential expansion of RPU’s recycled water system in the future. <br />Page 28 <br />
