AND A NEW SECTION 19.30.020 (61) <br /> 4 E. ESTABLISHING PLAYGROUND DESIGN STANDARDS FOR <br /> DRIVE-IN OR FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS SUBJECT TO THE <br /> 5 GRANTING OF A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT. <br /> 6 The City Council of the City of Riverside, California, <br /> 7 does ordain as follows: <br /> 8 Section 1: Chapter 19.30 of the Riverside Municipal Code <br /> 9 is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section 19.30.020 <br /> 10 (61) D. to read as follows: <br /> 11 "19.30.020 (61) D. Playground Design Standards. <br /> Notwithstanding other provisions to the contrary, the <br /> 12 following playground design standards shall apply to <br /> drive-in and fast food restaurants: <br /> 13 1) Applicants are strongly encouraged to design <br /> fast food restaurant playgrounds as an indoor <br /> 14 facility and integral part of the main building <br /> structure. Indoor play equipment shall be no <br /> 15 higher than a maximum height of 11 feet. <br /> 2) Where an outdoor playground is proposed, the <br /> 16 following design criteria shall be applied: <br /> a. The outdoor play area shall be designed to <br /> 17 include a covered patio attached to the <br /> main building structure. <br /> 18 b. The outdoor play area shall be enclosed <br /> with a 7-foot-high fence/wall consisting <br /> 19 of 4 feet of masonry topped with 3 feet of <br /> open wrought iron. <br /> 20 c. Substantial landscape screening shall be <br /> provided around the fence/wall. <br /> 21 d. The design of the play area and any <br /> related outdoor dining area shall be <br /> 22 architecturally consistent with the design <br /> of the main restaurant building and have <br /> 23 the appearance of being an integral part <br /> of the structure. <br /> 24 e. The location of the play area shall be <br /> oriented to the extent possible away from <br /> 25 street frontages and drive-thru lanes. <br /> f. The play equipment shall be no higher than <br /> 26 a maximum height of 9.5 feet. <br /> g.
