W A T E R E N E R G Y L <br />RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />W& Board Memorandum <br />P U B L I C U T I L I l 1 L 5 <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: AUGUST 13, 2018 <br />ITEM NO: 5 <br />SUBJECT: AWARD BID NO. 2134 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FOUR 1000 KVA STATION CLASS <br />TRANSFORMERS TO VIRGINIA TRANSFORMER CORPORATION OF ROANOKE, <br />VIRGINIA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $222,060 <br />ISSUE: <br />Award Bid No. 2134 to Virginia Transformer Corporation of Roanoke, Virginia, for the purchase of four <br />1000 kVA Station Class Transformers, in the amount of $222,060. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities award Bid No. 2134 for the purchase of four 1000 kVA Station Class <br />Transformers to the lowest responsive bidder Virginia Transformer Corporation of Roanoke, Virginia, in <br />the amount of $222,060. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Station Class Transformers are utilized to provide electric service to large customers in the downtown <br />areas where there is no space available to install conventional padmounted transformers, otherwise known <br />as zero property line developments. These are commonly used by larger municipal utilities such as <br />LADWP. The Stalder Building located at the corner of Market Street and Mission Inn Avenue, will be the <br />first zero property line customer for Riverside Public Utilities (RPU).
