OF CHINO, <br />CALIFORNIA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $74,016 <br />ISSUE: <br />Award Bid No. 2132 to Scott Engineering, Inc. of Chino, California, for the purchase of six completely <br />assembled overhead capacitor banks, in the amount of $74,016. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities award Bid No. 2132 for the purchase of six completely assembled <br />overhead capacitor banks to Scott Engineering, Inc. of Chino, California, in the amount of $74,016. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) utilizes capacitor banks to supply reactive power to the electric grid. In the <br />past, field personnel in the transformer shop built, and in some cases repaired, these capacitor banks in- <br />house, however these personnel are now retired. Nonetheless, there is still the need to install more <br />capacitor banks in our system, which establishes the need to have a manufacture supply of these capacitor <br />banks pre -assembled. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />Engineering staff determined that the best alternative to continue installing the capacitor banks would be <br />to have a manufacturer assemble these capacitor banks and ship to RPU ready to install.
