WATER I ENERGY ILIFE
RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES
61& Board Memorandum
P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S
BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: AUGUST 27, 2018
ITEM NO: 11
SUBJECT: SECOND MEMBER REPRESENTING WARD 6 ON THE AGRICULTURAL WATER
RATES TASK FORCE
ISSUE:
The second seat representing Ward 6 on the Agricultural Water Rates Task Force has not been filled.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Board of Public Utilities approve the appointment of Sharon Mateja to represent the second seat
for Ward 6 on the Agricultural Water Rates Task Force.
BACKGROUND:
Each of the seven Council Wards was to be represented on the Agricultural Water Rates Task Force (Task
Force) by two community members, along with a Chair and Vice -chair, for a total of 16 Task Force
members. The Board of Public Utilities approved the original 15 members of the Task Force on March 29,
2018. Upon initial appointment of the Task Force members, Chair Walcker was unable to find a second
resident representative from Ward 6 to fill the second seat. Sharon Mateja has filled in as an alternate for
other members and has actively been participating in the meetings thus far.
DISCUSSION:
It is important to ensure each Council Ward is equally represented within the Task Force. Staff
recommends that appointment of Sharon Mateja to represent the second seat for Ward 6 on the Task
Force.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact for this item.
Prepared by: Michael L.
