CITY OF RIVERSIDE <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> <br />Minutes of: <br />Time of Meeting: <br />Place of Meeting: <br />Date of Meeting: <br /> <br /> Regular Meeting of the City Council <br /> 6p.m. <br />Art Pick Council Chamber, City Hall <br />April 22, 2003 <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />In the absence of Mayor Loveridge, Mayor Pro Tempore Adkison called the <br />meeting to order at 6 p.m. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION <br />The City Council recessed to the City Council Board Room for a closed <br />session pursuant to Government Code §54956.9 to confer with and/or <br />receive advice from legal counsel concerning Friends of Riverside Hills v. City <br />of Riverside, Riverside Superior Court Case No. RIC 350056. <br /> <br />The City Council returned to the Art Pick Council Chamber. Mayor Loveridge <br />entered the Art Pick Council Chamber, assumed the Chair, and presided. <br /> <br />REPORT FROM LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES <br />President Robert G. Saber reported on the activities of the Library Board of <br />Trustees. Following discussion, the City Council thanked Mr. Saber for his <br />report. <br /> <br />The Invocation was given by Councilmember Hart. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br />Mayor Loveridge called on Dick Perry and Jim Clover of the Riverside Sport <br />Hall of Fame Committee who invited the City Council to the Inaugural <br />Riverside Sport Hall of Fame Induction Celebration honoring Riverside <br />athletes on Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the Riverside Convention Center. <br /> <br />CELEBRATING RIVERSIDE <br />Councilmember Pearson recognized Esther Gamia <br />contributions to the community for the past 36 years. <br /> <br />for her outstanding <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br />Bruce Lohman spoke regarding the library and the closing of the bus terminal <br />due to the Orange Blossom Festival. Wendy Montroy, Larry Whalen, and <br />Robert Gramm spoke regarding the closure of Main Street during Orange <br />Blossom Festival and Downtown Wednesday Night. Marjorie von Pohle <br />spoke regarding servicemen returning to March Field. Joey Dacky, Ray <br />Higgins, and three others spoke regarding the Orange Blossom Festival. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar, <br />were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item; <br />with Councilmember Schiavone disqualifying himself from voting on Case <br /> <br /> 88-371 <br /> <br />WARDS <br /> <br />Present <br /> <br /> <br />
