CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, CITY OF RIVERSIDE, WARD 1 MIKE GARDNER OCCUPATION: Ward 1 Councilmember EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: My wife Joyce and I have proudly called Riverside home for almost five decades. Serving as your Councilmember has truly been an honor. During my tenure on the Riverside City Council, we've worked together to improve our quality of life and maintain a balanced budget through challenging times. We must continue to work together to ensure that Riverside remains a great city to live, work, play, and raise a family. My highest priorities on the Riverside City Council will be: Maintain our balanced budget and reserve fund. Reduce homelessness. Support and improve public safety. Maintain and enhance basic city services like street maintenance and tree trimming. Enhance educational opportunities for our children and young adults. Encourage economic smart growth to attract more good -paying jobs with great benefits. I care deeply about Riverside - I attended both undergraduate and graduate school at the University of California Riverside, built my family and career here, and our three children attended local public schools.
