0, H F I -
RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES
W& Board Memorandum
P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S
BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: AUGUST 14, 2017
GENERAL MANAGER'S REPORT
ITEM NO: 16
Riverside Public Utilities
Drought and Conservation Efforts / Groundwater Level Update
As of
June 2017
Conservation Efforts
For the month of June 2017, Riverside resident's water conservation reached 11 %, cumulatively
it is at 16% from June 2016 to June 2017 (Figure 1). This translates to 12,239 Acre-feet (3,988
million gallons) of potable water being conserved.
On a Regional scale, Riverside resident's water consumption; measured in gallons per capita
per day (Residential-GPCD) is comparable to the aggregate consumption within the surrounding
ten water agencies (Figure 2). RPU's Residential-GPCD moved a little higher than the regional
Residential-GPCD in May 2017, but it is at the same level regionally since January 2017.
Basin Groundwater Levels
Groundwater production continues to increase and as a result, groundwater levels are
decreasing; as expected for this time of year. However compared to last year, water levels are 7
feet lower in Bunker Hill and 3 feet lower in the Riverside North Basin. Water levels in the Rialto -
Colton and Riverside South basins are relatively stable.
