RPU -7475 TO MAMCO, INC. DBA <br />ALABBASI OF PERRIS, CALIFORNIA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,077,777 — APPROVE <br />WORK ORDER NO. 1513392 FOR $2,978,000 <br />ISSUES: <br />Award Bid No. RPU -7475 to Mamco, Inc. dba Alabbasi of Perris, California, for the construction of the <br />Colorado Avenue and Toyon Road Water Distribution Main Replacement Project in the amount of <br />$2,077,777; and approve the expenditure of $2,978,000 for Work Order No. 1513392. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />1. Award a contract for the construction of the Colorado Avenue and Toyon Road Water Distribution <br />Main Replacement Project — Bid No. RPU -7475 to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, <br />Mamco, Inc. dba Alabbasi of Perris, California, in the amount of $2,077,777; and <br />2. Approve the capital expenditure of $2,978,000 for Work Order No. 1513392, which includes all <br />design, construction, paving, contract administration, inspection and construction contingency <br />costs for the Colorado Avenue and Toyon Road Water Distribution Main Replacement Project. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The construction of the Colorado Avenue and Toyon Road Water Distribution Main Replacement Project <br />is part of RPU's ongoing water main replacement program to replace old and high priority leaky mains. <br />The project area consists of existing 4 -inch and 6 -inch cast iron pipeline installed between 1955 and <br />1964. Based on their leak history, age and size, these water pipelines have been identified as high <br />priorities for replacement to enhance system reliability and increase fire flow. <br />This project is in line with Riverside Public Utilities' (RPU) infrastructure road map and Utility 2.0 and <br />directly benefits RPU water customers within the vicinity of the project in terms of system reliability and <br />improved fire protection. This project consists of approximately 1.7 miles of replacement water main, <br />representing about 30% of RPU's goal for water main replacements during fiscal year 2016/17.
