IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $60,566; AND WORK ORDER NO. 1916602 IN THE AMOUNT OF $80,000 <br />ISSUES: <br />Approve the expenditure in the amount of $60,560 for the streetlight installation component of Public Works <br />Bid No.7582 for the Street Improvements for Wilbur Street and Sidewalk Improvements for Cook Avenue <br />Project to Sequel Contractors, Inc., of Santa Fe Springs, California; and approve Work Order No. 1916602 <br />in the amount of $80,000 for this work. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />1. Approve the expenditure in the amount of $60,560 for the streetlight installation component of <br />Public Works Bid No -7582 for the Street Improvements for Wilbur Street and Sidewalk <br />Improvements for Cook Avenue Project to Sequel Contractors, Inc., of Santa Fe Springs, California; <br />and <br />2. Approve Work Order No. 1916602 in the amount of $80,000 for work associated with Public Works <br />Bid No. 7582 for the Street Improvements for Wilbur Street and Sidewalk Improvements for Cook <br />Avenue Project. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On May 9, 2017, the City Council adopted the Annual Action Plan (Plan) for expenditure of Community <br />Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for Fiscal Year 2017/18. The Plan provides an overview of the <br />CDBG funding recommendations and highlights the importance of these capital improvement projects. <br />A new sidewalk along Cook Avenue, near Myra Linn Park, was listed in the plan as a street improvement <br />recommendation. The design of these improvements, completed by Pubic Works, includes the installation <br />of new streetlight standards. All grant -funded projects that include the installation of new streetlight <br />standards require that Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) fund the streetlight installation component of the <br />project. <br />The street improvements on Wilbur Street and the sidewalk improvements on Cook Avenue will promote <br />active transportation such as walking, biking, and any alternate way of commute besides automobile and <br />will directly benefit the area residents and students of Myra Linn Elementary School. The scope of work <br />for the Streetlight installation component of the project on Cook Avenue includes the installation of five (5) <br />
