RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES <br />Board Memorandum <br />P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: JANUARY 14, 2019 <br />ITEM NO: 13 <br />SUBJECT: HUNTER SUBSTATION REPLACEMENT PROJECT - WORK ORDER NO. 1826767 IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF $2,000,000 <br />ISSUE: <br />Approve Work Order No. 1826767 in the total amount of $2,000,000 for work associated with the Hunter <br />Substation Replacement Project. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities approve Work Order No. 1826767 in the total amount of $2,000,000 for <br />work associated with the Hunter Substation Replacement Project. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Hunter Substation is located at 1731 Marlborough Avenue and serves approximately 4,700 customers <br />comprised of residents and businesses within the Hunter Industrial Park and Northside communities north <br />of the 215/60/91 Freeway interchange. Hunter Substation is in dire need of replacement. <br />A seismic study was conducted and presented to the Board of Public Utilities (Board) in April 2011. <br />Subsequently, an in-depth study was performed in 2013. That study recommended replacement of the <br />majority of the 69 kilovolt (kV) bus structures because they were beyond rehabilitation.
