RECREATION AND CULTURAL COMMITTEE <br />Wednesday, May 18, 1994 <br />10:00 a.m. <br />City Council Board Room <br />NOTES <br />1. MUNICIPAL MUSEUM ENHANCED ACTIVITIES <br />Attending: Ameal Moore, Maureen Kane, Terri Thompson, <br />Deen Teer, Bill Dougall, Kathryn Safford <br />Bill Dougall reviewed the suggestions of the Community <br />Involvement Committee. The Museum Board plans to support the <br />seven recommendations that resulted from the community effort. <br />Kathryn Safford distributed her comments regarding the seven <br />recommendations under consideration. <br />Vice -Chair Kane suggested that the Museum consider hiring a <br />person on a temporary basis to develop a capital campaign over <br />a 2-3 year period; then hire an education specialist for the <br />long term. This person (a professional) could tap into <br />various community groups to financially support. efforts of the <br />Museum. <br />ACTION: <br />Request the Riverside Museum Associates to determine funds <br />that they could contribute to efforts. <br />Request Kathryn Safford and Bill Dougall to confer with <br />Development staff to determine if there could be any <br />redevelopment monies available to assist. <br />Report to Committee at next meeting: June 15, 1994. <br />2. MAGNOLIA AVENUE MEDIAN DEVELOPMENT, TYLER TO WESTERLY CITY <br />LIMITS <br />Attending: Ameal Moore, Maureen Kane, Terri Thompson, <br />Deen Teer, Dee Bachman, Bob Johnson <br />Dee Bachman reviewed the staff proposal, with two options. <br />Vice -Chair Kane was concerned that the Park and Recreation <br />Commission has not had the opportunity to review the proposal <br />and make recommendations. <br />
