1 <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> <br /> 4 <br /> <br /> 5 <br /> <br /> 6 <br /> <br /> 7 <br /> <br /> 8 <br /> <br /> 9 <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br />11 <br /> <br />12 <br /> <br />13 <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br />15 <br /> <br />16 <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />20 <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br />22 <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br />27 <br /> <br />GP-005-023 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO.: 20349 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE C1TY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE RIVERSIDE GENERAL <br /> PLAN BY REPEALING THE CURRENT HISTORIC PRESERVATION <br /> SECTION OF THE GENERAL PLAN AND REPLACING IT WITH AN <br /> HISTORIC PRESERVATION ELEMENT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Riverside, Califomia~.advertised for <br />and held a public heating on January 23, 2003, to consider repealing the current Historic <br />Preservation section of the General Plan and replace it with an updated Historic Preservation <br />Element as proposed by Case GP-005-023 and the Planning Commission recommended that the <br />updated Historic Preservation Element be adopted based upon the findings presented in the City <br />Planning Department staff report; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission considered the environmental impacts of the <br />proposed amendment and recommended that a Negative Declaration be adopted; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Riverside, California, advertised for and held a <br />public hearing on February 18, 2003, to consider the proposed amendment to the General Plan and <br />the adoption of the updated Historic Preservation Element; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverside, <br />California, that the City Council finds as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. It is in the public interest amend the Riverside General Plan by adopting an updated <br />Historic Preservation Element. <br /> <br /> 2. The amendment and adoption of the Historic Preservation Element has been completed <br />in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and a negative declaration is <br />adopted and this determination reflects the independent judgment of the City Council of the City of <br />Riverside. <br /> <br /> 3. Preservation of the City's historic resources is vital to maintaining the City's identity and <br />plays a significant role in strengthening the local economy. <br /> <br /> 4.
