1 <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br /> 6 <br /> <br /> 7 <br /> <br /> 8 <br /> <br /> 9 <br /> <br /> 10 <br /> <br /> 11 <br /> <br /> 12 <br /> <br /> 13 <br /> <br /> 14 <br /> <br /> 15 <br /> <br /> 16 <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />20 <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br />22 <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br />27 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 20347 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, <br />CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ADJUSTED WATER RATE SCHEDUI,ES <br />INCORPORATING A TWO AND NINE-TENTHS (2.9%) PERCENT INCREASE AS <br />SET BY THE HANDY-WHITMAN INDEX AND A ONE PERCENT "ADDER" <br />DEDICATED TO THE WATER PIPELINE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM, <br />ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES OF THE CITY OF <br />RIVERSIDE TO BE EFFECTIVE ON OR AFl'ER MARCH 1, 2003. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on February 13, 2001, at the recommendation of the Board and after a proper <br />public hearing, the City Council approved a three-year water rate increase, as set forth in City <br />Council Resolution No. 19841; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on January 17, 2003, staff of the City of Riverside's CCity") Department of <br />Public Utilities submitted to the City's Board of Public Utilities proposed adjusted water rates in <br />accord with the approved three-year water rate increase, incorporating a two and nine-tenths <br />percent increase as set by the Handy-Whitman Index and a one percent "adder" dedicated to the <br />water pipeline replacement program, into the water rates charged to the customers of the City's <br />Water Utility; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Public Utilities adopted and established such adjusted water rates <br />pursuant to Section 1202(e) of the City Charter and directed that the adjusted rates be submitted to <br />the City Council for approval; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverside, <br />California, that (1) the findings of fact of the Board of Public Utilities made in its Resolution No. <br />2003-01, which Resolution is attached hereto as Exhibit 1 and incorporated herein in its entirety by <br />this reference, are hereby adopted as findings of the City Council, (2) the adjusted water rates <br />established by the Board in said Resolution are hereby approved, (3) the Public Utilities and <br />Planning Departments are directed to prepare and file the Notice of Exemption and such other <br />documents as are required by the California Environmental Quality Act (Public Resources Code <br />sections 21000 et seq.) in connection with the water rate increases, and (4) the increased water <br />rates shall become effective for all water services (except Schedule WA-8) rendered on or after <br /> <br />City Attorney's Office <br />3900 Main Street <br />Riverside, CA 92522 <br />(909) 826-5567 <br /> <br /> <br />
