CITY OF RIVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL COUNCILMEMBERS Minutes of: Time of Meeting: Place of Meeting: Date of Meeting: Regular Meeting of the City Council 10 a.m. Art Pick Council Chamber, City Hall January 21, 2003 WARDS Roll Call: In the absence of Mayor Loveridge, Mayor Pro Tempore Adkison called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. in the City Council Board Room. PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION Andres L. Soto, Robert K. Thomas, Mary K. Fowlie, and Alec C. Gerry were interviewed for the Park and Recreation Commission. No formal action was required or taken. RECESS The City Council recessed at 11:10 a.m. and reconvened at 12 p.m. LUNCHEON MEETING The Mayor and City Council convened in the Mayor's Ceremonial Room for a luncheon meeting with Mike Arnold, the City's Sacramento lobbyist. Following completion of the luncheon meeting, the Mayor and City Council reconvened at 1:05 p.m. in the Art Pick Council Chamber. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE There were no comments presented at this time. CLOSED SESSIONS The Mayor and City Council recessed to the City Council Board Room for closed sessions pursuant to Government Code §54956.9 to confer with and/ or receive advice from legal counsel concerning (a) Michael Alagna and Wayne Stewart v. City of Riverside, et al., USDC Case No. ED CV 00-0570, (b) Alagna/Stewart v. City of Riverside (Petition for Writ of Mandate) Riverside Superior Court Case No. RIC 372 846, and (c) City of Riverside v. Alagna/Stewart (Petition for Writ of Mandate), Riverside Superior Court Case No. RIC 373 156; (2) Paul Bugar and Dan Hotard v. City of Riverside, et al., USDC Case No. ED CV99-176 RT (RZx); (3) (a) Greg Preece v. City of Riverside, et al., consolidated with City v. John Perone, Riverside Superior Court Case No. RIC 375546 (MF), and (b) Greg Preece v. City of Riverside, et al., Riverside Superior Court Case No. RIC 365605; (4) Save Islander Park v. City of Riverside, Riverside Superior Court Case No. 369 226; and (5) Friends of Riverside's Hills v. City of Riverside, Riverside Superior Court Case No. RIC 385 522. The City Attorney announced there were no reportable actions on the closed sessions. RECESS The City Council recessed at 1:45 p.m. and reconvened at 3 p.m. with Mayor Pro Tempore Adkison presiding in the absence of Mayor Loveridge. Present 88-250
