1 ORDINANCE NO. 6428 2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 6.14 OF THE RIVERSIDE MUNICIPAL 3 CODE RELATING TO LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE IN ITS ENTIRETY TO INCLUDE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY UNDER THE 4 TERMS OF THE CHAPTER; AND TO INCLUDE PROVISIONS RELATING TO NOTIFICATION, SEVERABILITY AND 5 PENALTIES. 6 The City Council of the City of Riverside, California, 7 does ordain as follows: 8 Section 1. Chapter 6.14 of the Riverside Municipal Code 9 is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: 10 "Chapter 6.14 11 LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE 12 Sections: 6.14.010 Findings. 13 6.14.020 Duty to maintain landscaping. 6.14.030 Notice. 14 6.14.040 Penalty. 6.14.050 Severability. 15 6.14.010 FINDINGS. The City Council finds and 16 determines as follows: 17 A. The property values and the general welfare of the City of Riverside are founded, in part, upon the 18 appearance and maintenance of private and public property located within said City. 19 B. The lack of maintenance of landscaping and 20 sanitation on both private and public properties, including overgrown, dead, or decayed vegetation and 21 weeds and the accumulation of rubbish and debris, is a condition which is injurious to the public health, safety 22 and welfare of the residents of the City of Riverside and contributes substantially and increasingly to the 23 deterioration of the City. 24 C. Unless corrective measures, as established in this Chapter, are undertaken to alleviate such existing 25 conditions and to assure the avoidance of future problems in this regard, the public health, safety and general 26 welfare, specifically aesthetic, social and economic standards, will be depreciated. 27 Attorney's Office Street CA 92522 782-5567 F: \WPDATA\ORD\ 96032202.
