In conclusion, we believe citizen surveys communicate to the citizenry that local government is <br />taking their views and feedback seriously. The survey process results in increased confidence <br />in the local government and its operations, as well as an increased sense of partnership in the <br />community. Additionally, surveys that are completed periodically can be reported to the public <br />to demonstrate that progress is being made in addressing issues and problems and that there <br />is a serious effort to establish accountability for providing effective services. <br /> <br />On May 2, 2002 the Governmental Affairs Committee approved the Citizen Survey and <br />recommended to proceed with mailing the questionnaire with the recommendation to return <br />when the results had been tabulated.
