MINUTES <br />FINANCE COMMITTEE <br />Wednesday, October 10, 2018,3 p.m. <br />Art Pick Council Chamber <br />PRESENT: Chair Adams, Vice Chair Conder, and Member Soubirous <br />ABSENT: None <br />STAFF PRESENT: Lorena Verdusco, Kristi Smith, Lea Deesing, Al Zelinka, <br />Rafael Guzman, Carlie Myers, Moises Lopez, Carl Carey, <br />Cindie Perry, Stephanie Holloman, Rene Goldman, Miriana <br />Gonzalez, Edward Enriquez, Nancy Garcia, Marie Ricci, <br />JoAnn Combs, Erin Christmas, Laura Nomura, Staci <br />Sullivan, Cheryl Johannes, Kristie Thomas, Ruby Castillo, <br />Adolfo Cruz, Mario Lara, Sergio Diaz, David Welch, George <br />Khalil, Hector Villegas, Brandi Becker, and others <br />ALSO PRESENT: Aurora Chavez, Jason Hunter, and others <br />Chair Adams called the meeting to order at 3 p.m. <br />CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM OVERVIEW <br />Following discussion, motion was made by Chair Adams and seconded by <br />Member Soubirous requesting (1) monthly updates to the City Council Finance <br />Committee regarding CalPERS cost management options; (2) development of a <br />CalPERS task force; and (3) a CalPERS workshop for a future City Council <br />meeting. Motion carried unanimously. <br />FISCAL YEAR 2017-18 WORKERS' COMPENSATION CLAIMS AND COSTS ANNUAL <br />REPORT <br />Following discussion, motion was made by Member Soubirous and seconded by <br />Vice Chair Conder (1) recommending that the City Council approve the annual <br />report on the City's Workers' Compensation claims and costs for Fiscal Year <br />2017-2018; and (2) requesting a report on retiree replacement benefit plans to a <br />future City Council Finance Committee meeting. Motion carried unanimously. <br />FISCAL YEAR 2017-18 LIABILITY INSURANCE TRUST FUNDS ANNUAL FINANCIAL <br />REVIEW <br />Following discussion, motion was made by Member Soubirous and seconded by <br />Vice Chair Conder recommending that the City Council approve the annual <br />financial review of the City's Liability Insurance Trust Funds for Fiscal Year 2017- <br />2018.
