PRESENT: <br />ABSENT: <br />BOARD OF ETHICS <br />THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2018, 5 P.M. <br />ART PICK COUNCIL CHAMBER <br />MINUTES <br />Vice Chair Nelson and Members Macias, House, Stahovich, <br />Wright, Tucker, and Foley <br />Chair Huerta and Member Ford <br />STAFF PRESENT: Colleen Nicol and Brandon Mercer <br />Vice -Chair Nelson convened the meeting at 5 p.m. <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br />There was no one present wishing to speak. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Following discussion, it was moved by Member Macias and seconded by Member <br />House to approve the minutes of the meeting of August 2, 2018, as presented. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />EXCUSAL OF ABSENCES <br />Following discussion, it was moved by Member House and seconded by Member <br />Stahovich to excuse the absence of Gloria Huerta from the August 2, 2018, <br />meeting. Motion carried unanimously. <br />FILING OF COMPLAINT WITHOUT HEARING <br />Vice -Chair Nelson introduced discussion of the potential ability of a member of <br />the public to file a complaint to be considered by the Board of Ethics without a <br />formal hearing. The Board discussed the current process, protection of the due <br />process rights of the public official against whom the complaint was filed, and <br />upcoming improvements to the website aimed at making the process Tess <br />intimidating. No formal action was required or taken. <br />REPORT OF MEETINGS AND ACTIVITIES BY BOARD MEMBERS <br />There were no reports from Board Members at this time. <br />REPORT ON GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE AND CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS <br />Vice -Chair Nelson reported that at their meeting of September 5, 2018, the City <br />Council Governmental Affairs Committee conducted the annual review of the <br />Code of Ethics and Conduct, concurred with the Board of Ethics that no <br />1 <br />
