1 RESOLUTION NO. 18842 <br />2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, SETTING FORTH PROCEDURES TO <br />3 PROVIDE FOR ADEQUATE PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN THE <br /> DESIGNATION OF HISTORIC DISTRICTS AND NEIGHBORHOOD <br />4 CONSERVATION AREAS. <br />5 WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Riverside values <br />6 the City's rich historic fabric and recognizes that the retention <br />7 of historic buildings, commercial and industrial areas, and <br />8 historic neighborhoods is essential to retaining the City~s <br />9 character; and <br />10 WHEREAS the areas and neighborhoods comprising the City <br />11 shape and define its character and the preservation and <br />12 enhancement of these areas are vital to the City's well-being; <br />13 and <br />14 WHEREAS the identification and recognition of historic <br />15 resources promotes neighborhood conservation, economic <br />16 revitalization, heritage tourism and the preservation of property <br />17 values; and <br />18 WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Riverside <br />19 promotes and encourages public and neighborhood participation in <br />20 its historic preservation programs~ <br />21 NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />22 City of Riverside, California, that minimum procedures to provide <br />23 for public participation in the designation of historic districts <br />24 and neighborhood conservation areas are hereby set forth as <br />25 follows: <br />26 1o When a potential historic district or neighborhood <br />27 conservation area has been identified for further study~ the City <br />Attorney's Office <br />~re~ <br />CA ~522 <br />782-5567 <br /> F:\WPDATA\~S\95144101.KG <br /> <br /> <br />
