Provide feedback on the committee's suggestions for a 50th Anniversary Celebration; 2. Authorize the committee to plan 50th Anniversary Celebration reception based on the provided feedback; and 3. Request the committee report back on a monthly basis. BACKGROUND: On October 18, 2018, Board member Chuck Tobin spoke to the Cultural Heritage Board regarding the 50th Anniversary of the Board. CHB was created by City Ordinance number 3562, which was adopted by City Council on November 19, 1968. On January 17, 2018, CHB formed a subcommittee of three members to explore ideas for the celebration of CHB's 50th Anniversary. DISCUSSION: On March 19, 2018, the CHB 50th Anniversary committee and staff meet to discuss ideas for celebrating CHB's anniversary (Exhibit 1). The general consensus of the committee and staff was to hold a reception in early November 2018. The committee suggests that the event be held either downtown or at a historic location, possibly the Tower Room at the Fox Theater. The event is recommended to include prior and present CHB members, City Council, Mayor, and appropriate City staff. The committee and staff further discussed requesting a proclamation made by the City Council, which will recognize the anniversary. Additionally, staff suggested having the reception and proclamation kick off six months of history and preservation - related events that would culminate CHB — 50th Anniversary 1 of 2 April 18, 2018
