1 RESOLUTION NO. 18840 <br />2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, MAKING ITS FINDINGS AS <br />3 REQUIRED BY SECTION 17958.7 OF THE CALIFORNIA <br /> HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE RELATING TO THE ADOPTION <br />4 OF THE 1994 UNIFORM FIRE CODE AS AMENDED BY THE <br /> CALIFORNIA STATE FIRE MARSHAL. <br />5 <br />6 WHEREAS Section 17958.5 of the Health and Safety Code <br />7 provides that in adopting ordinances or regulations making any <br />8 changes in the provisions in the California Building Standards Code <br />9 and other regulations adopted pursuant to Section 17922 of the <br />10 Health and Safety Code, a city may make such changes or <br />11 modifications as are reasonably necessary because of local climatic, <br />12 geological or topographical conditions; and <br />13 WHEREAS Section 17958.7 of the Health and Safety Code <br />14 requires the governing body of a city, before making any <br />15 modifications or changes pursuant to Section 17958.5, to make an <br />16 express finding that such modifications or changes are reasonably <br />17 necessary because of local climatic, geological or topographical <br />18 conditions; and <br />19 WHEREAS the Fire Department of the City of Riverside has <br />20 submitted a report to the City Council redommending the adoption of <br />21 the 1994 Edition of the Uniform Fire Code as amended by the <br />22 California State Fire Marshal with certain amendments thereto to <br />23 reflect local fire protection requirements because of local <br />24 climatic, geological or topographical conditions and to make certain <br />25 other administrative changes thereto; and <br />26 WHEREAS the modifications to the 1994 Edition of the Uniform <br />27 Fire Code as proposed by the Fire Department are reasonably <br />A~o~ey's Office <br />~reet <br />CA 92~2 <br />782-5567 <br /> F:\WPDATA\RES\95197501.CC <br /> <br /> <br />
