<br />Minutes <br />Commission on Aging - <br />Tuesday, June 13, 2017 <br />4:00 – 5:30 PM <br />Janet Goeske Senior Center – 5257 Sierra St. Riverside 92504 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order: 4:08 PM <br />Pledge of Allegiance: <br />Guest Introductions: <br />Public Comment: <br />Don Coon <br />: Discussed the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Riverside County and the <br />opportunity for seniors to volunteer in a number of areas (school tutors are needed). <br />Frank E. Whatley,Cheryl Tavaglione, Julie Brown- <br />Commissioners in attendance: <br />Tartaglino, Sandy R. Tarmo, Michelle C. Hesse, Shari L. Fleischman, Vicki L. Broach and <br />Krista R. Dixon. <br />stnd <br />Approval of Minutes <br />(May meeting): Krista Dixon 1 followed by Vicki L. Broach 2 and all <br />others in agreement. <br />Commissioners Absent <br />: Bud Fish and Wilma VanGundy, both notified the Chair that they <br />would be absent from this meeting. <br />Cheryl Tavaglione: <br /> Commented to the Commission that she feels that our commission <br />meetings are being rushed and reminded Commissioners that these meetings are scheduled <br />from 4 – 5:30 pm. <br />Julie Tartaglino <br />: Shared that it was her understanding that meetings would run until 5:30 pm <br />only on days were a speaker presented to the Commission (speaker days). <br />Sandy Tarmo <br /> – Commented on the CHP, Age Well, Drive Smart program and how Officer <br />Olivas only wanted 20-25 minutes for his recent presentation. There was no reason for that <br />meeting to have gone on until 5:30 pm. <br />Discussion item #4 <br />Sandy Tarmo <br /> – thanked the Senior Day committee for their hard work in putting this event <br />together (flyers, letters, awards, entertainment etc.). Event is scheduled for August 21, 2017 @ <br />th <br />4:00 pm @ City Hall – Mayor’s Ceremonial Room 7 floor. <br />Krista Dixon: <br />shared with the committee that she plans to contact businesses and ask them <br />for the donations for Senior Day. <br /> <br />st <br />Sandy Tarmo: <br />suggested that the Senior Day committee meet the 1 week in August to <br />ensure that all is ready for the Senior Day event. It was also suggested that the committee <br />th <br /> <br />meet on July 11 at 3:00 PM. <br /> <br /> <br />
