CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR <br />CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, <br />CITY OF RIVERSIDE, WARD 2 <br />KEVIN DAWSON <br />OCCUPATION: Community Volunteer <br />EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: <br />CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR <br />CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, <br />CITY OF RIVERSIDE, WARD 2 <br />AGE: 58 ANDY MELENDREZ <br />OCCUPATION: Expert Witness <br />EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: <br />AGE: 63 <br />I have lived in Riverside since attending UCR in 1977, and my wife and It has been a privilege serving as your City Councilmember for Ward 2 <br />I raised our family here. and I look forward to your continued support. Over the past three terms we <br />I am a problem solver, and from my experience in restaurant management <br />and as a small business owner, I have worked hard to fix problems. I <br />have used this strength to help my neighborhood and other communities <br />in the city. <br />When Metrolink was extended through my community, I worked to force <br />additional mitigation and preserve our quality of life. <br />When I found that city officials were violating the City Code of Ethics, I <br />acted to see its reform. <br />When I discovered financial improprieties and violations of the City <br />Charter, I worked to identify the problems, hold people accountable, and <br />adopt solutions. <br />The most important job of a councilman is fiscal oversight. As your <br />councilman, I will pledge to not lie, cheat or steal, and will strive to do the <br />right thing when no one is looking. <br />I want to develop quality jobs in Riverside, but monster warehouses at <br />the expense of residents' quality of life are not the answer. <br />I value the sense of community and preserving our quality of life. I'm <br />asking for your vote. <br />Kevin Dawson <br />951 - 850 -7398 Dawson4ward2aaol.com <br />CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR <br />CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, <br />CITY OF RIVERSIDE, WARD 2 <br />JON SCOTT HARRIS <br />OCCUPATION: Pastor/ Business Owner <br />EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS: <br />As a native born son of not only this beautiful city, but more specifically <br />Ward 2, 1 am passionate about serving the residents and leading us into <br />our future. <br />Being fortunate enough to attain my education from RCC, graduating in <br />1988 with an Associate's Degree, Cal State San Bernardino, with a major <br />in Small Business Administration in 1993 and thereafter acquiring my BA <br />in Biblical Studies and Masters in Ministry in 2002 from Carolina School of <br />Theology, I have been uniquely prepared to serve a diverse constituency. <br />I possess an accomplished background in community leadership, including <br />but not limited to serving as the President of the Eastside Reconciliation <br />Coalition and implementing several viable and productive community <br />programs including the Safety Chaperones in 2014 and the Summer <br />Youth Career Development Program in 2015. <br />1 am a small business owner and Pastor of Castle Rock Christian <br />Fellowship. I am the husband of Dr. Leita J. Our <br />City has remained financially secured while improving our quality of life. <br />As your City Councilmember, I am proud of the improvements we made <br />on University Avenue. We removed unhealthy businesses, boosted public <br />safety and supported our small business community. We improved local <br />parks, protected open space, and promoted our historic past. <br />I will continue to fight for neighborhood safety, promote walkable and <br />bicycle friendly communities, and address our growing homeless problem. <br />Going forward we must increase police personnel, purchase new fire <br />equipment, improve public transportation, and protect our water quality <br />which is vital to our City's future. <br />As our school districts, colleges, and universities continue to grow we <br />must continue our relationship with them to ensure quality educational <br />opportunities for all our citizens. <br />I will continue my commitment to improve our communities quality of life, <br />promote public safety, encourage the arts, develop new businesses and <br />work to maintain a strong fiscal foundation. <br />Andy Melendrez <br />Riverside City Councilmember Ward 2 <br />33- 3872 -01 <br />
