Commission on Aging-Minutes <br />Tuesday, December 13, 2016 <br />4:00 –5:30 PM <br />Janet Goeske Senior Center –5257 Sierra Street <br />Call to Order: 4:02pm <br />Pledge of Allegiance: <br />Guest Introductions: <br />Public Comment: <br />Rich Gardner <br />–was pleased that the Boat Floatwent well and credits the partnership <br />with the city, purple city alliance and others. He is suggesting that it be held next year <br />simultaneously with other cities on the same day and inviting other cities to participate. <br />Don Coon <br />–discussed the Retire and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) –recruiting <br />seniors 55+ to tutor at our local schools. Also discussed 211 Community Connect and <br />the services offered for our Vets and the community. Holiday celebration event for our <br />th <br />Veterans Dec 15. Shared that Parkview Hospital provides a monthly Health Seminar <br />for our seniors. <br />Cheryl Tavaglione, Frank E. Fleischman <br />Frank Arreola (staff) <br />-discussed Standing Rules and Regulations forCommissioners <br />and the Attendance Policy. <br />Krista Dixon <br />–inquired about the attendance policy –Frank shared that he would send <br />an e-mail to the commissioners outlining the policy. <br />Bud Fish <br />–enjoyed Senior Day primarily the bingo portion, attendance was low for the <br />softball game. <br />Krista Dixon <br />–suggested that a panel of speakers for the Purple Boat Float event <br />would be a nice thing and also shared that both the Boat Float and Senior Day are <br />similar. Perhaps the commission might consider a different direction for future Senior <br />Dayevents. <br />Julie Brown-Tartaglino <br />–shared that she enjoyed Senior Day, but suggested Bingo for <br />2 hours followed by the Awards ceremony. <br />
