Commission on Aging-Minutes Tuesday, December 13, 2016 4:00 –5:30 PM Janet Goeske Senior Center –5257 Sierra Street Call to Order: 4:02pm Pledge of Allegiance: Guest Introductions: Public Comment: Rich Gardner –was pleased that the Boat Floatwent well and credits the partnership with the city, purple city alliance and others. He is suggesting that it be held next year simultaneously with other cities on the same day and inviting other cities to participate. Don Coon –discussed the Retire and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) –recruiting seniors 55+ to tutor at our local schools. Also discussed 211 Community Connect and the services offered for our Vets and the community. Holiday celebration event for our th Veterans Dec 15. Shared that Parkview Hospital provides a monthly Health Seminar for our seniors. Cheryl Tavaglione, Frank E. Whatley, Krista R. Commissioners in attendance: Dixon, Julie Brown-Tartaglino, Michelle C. Hesse and Bud Fish Approval of Minutes: stnd Julie Brown-Tartaglino1and Krista R. Dixon 2all others agreement. CommissionersAbsent : Vicki L. Broach, Sandy R. Tarmo and Shari L. Fleischman Frank Arreola (staff) -discussed Standing Rules and Regulations forCommissioners and the Attendance Policy. Krista Dixon –inquired about the attendance policy –Frank shared that he would send an e-mail to the commissioners outlining the policy. Bud Fish –enjoyed Senior Day primarily the bingo portion, attendance was low for the softball game. Krista Dixon –suggested that a panel of speakers for the Purple Boat Float event would be a nice thing and also shared that both the Boat Float and Senior Day are similar. Perhaps the commission might consider a different direction for future Senior Dayevents. Julie Brown-Tartaglino –shared that she enjoyed Senior Day, but suggested Bingo for 2 hours followed by the Awards ceremony.
