6 <br /> <br /> 7 <br /> <br /> 8 <br /> <br /> 9 <br /> <br /> 10 <br /> <br /> I1 <br /> <br /> 12 <br /> <br /> 13 <br /> <br />14 <br /> <br /> 15 <br /> <br />16 <br /> <br /> 17 <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br />19 <br /> <br />2O <br /> <br />2I <br /> <br />22 <br /> <br />23 <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br />25 <br /> <br />26 <br /> <br />27 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 20092 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, <br />APPROVING THE ADJUSTED WATER RATE SCHEDULES iNCORPORATING A <br />THREE PERCENT INCREASE AS SET BY THE HANDY-WHITMAN INFLATIONARY <br />INDEX AND A ONE PERCENT "ADDER" SURCHARGE DEDICATED TO WATER <br />PIPELINE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM, APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC <br />UTILITIES OF THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on February 13, 2001, at the recommendation of the Board and after a proper <br />public hearing, the City Council approved a three-year water rate increase, as set forth in City <br />Council Resolution No. 19841; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on January 18, 2002, staff of the City of Riverside's ("City") Department of <br />Public Utilities submitted proposed adjusted ~vater rates in accord with the approved three-year <br />water rate increase, incorporating a three percent increase as set by the Handy-Whitman <br />h~flationary Index and a one percent "adder" surcharge dedicated to water pipeline replacement <br />program to the water rates charged to the customers of the City's Water Utility to the City's Board <br />of Public Utilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Public Utilities approved and adopted such adjusted water rates <br />pursuant to Section 1202(c) of the City Charter and directed that the adjusted rates be submitted to <br />the City Council for approval; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Riverside, <br />Calilbmia, that (1) the findings of fact of the Board of Public Utilities made in its Resolution No. <br />2002-01, which Resolution is attached hereto as Exhibit 1 and incorporated herein in its entirety by <br />this reference, are hereby adopted as findings of the City Council, (2) the adjusted water rates <br />approved by the Board in said Resolution are hereby approved, (3) the Public Utilities and <br />Planning Departments are directed to prepare and file thc Notice of Exemption and such other <br />documents as are required by the California Environmental Quality Act (Public Resources Code <br />sections 21000 et seq.) in connection with the water rate adjustments, and (4) the increased water <br />rates shall become effective with thc first billing cycle commencing on or after March 1, 2002 and <br />afier approval by the City Council of thc City of Riverside, California. <br /> <br />{Tity Attorney's Ollice <br />3900 Maln Slreet <br />Riverside, CA 92522 <br />(909) 826-5567 <br /> <br /> <br />
