Commission on Aging Meeting - Minutes <br />Tuesday, September 13, 2016 <br />4:00 — 5:30 PM <br />Dales Senior Center - 3936 Chestnut St. Riverside, 92501 <br />Call to Order: 4:03 pm <br />Pledge of Allegiance: <br />Guest Introductions: <br />Michaela Reid — Student at La Sierra University shared that she enjoys sharing her musical <br />talents with those that have dementia. <br />Brianna Fierro - (Police Service Rep.) Shared the YANA program (you are not alone) this <br />program is administered through the police dept. <br />Commissioners in attendance: Sandy Tarmo, Cheryl Tavaglione, Bob Reeves, Michelle Hesse, <br />Bud Fish, Julie Brown - Tartaglino, Vicki Broach and Shari Fleischman <br />Commissioners Absent: Krista Dixon (excused) <br />Approval of Minutes: Bud Fish 1s' and Julie Tartaelino 2nd all others agreed. Bob Reeves - <br />abstained (not present at the July meeting). <br />Bob Reeves — shared that this was his last meeting - he's moving out of state. <br />Sandy Tarmo — thanked commissioner Reeves for his service to the community. <br />Bud Fish — suggested better prizes at next year's Senior Day event (no candy bars). <br />Vicki Broach — suggested focusing only on the Awards Portion only <br />Sandy Tarmo — suggested promoting on the city channel (GTV - Government Television). <br />Shari Fleishman — discussed the purpose of the Boat Float Event — introduced Caryn Marsella <br />and the proposed involvement the Riverside Art Museum will have in creating the floatable <br />boats. This event is to recognize those who are ill and those who have passed away, as well as <br />acknowledging family members. 200 floatable boats will be launched into the water. Two <br />groups will be assisting in making the boats this year (Purple city taskforce and Meridian senior <br />living). Riv. Art Museum donating paper goods to make boats. <br />Michelle Hesse (commissioner) — offered to create a Facebook page for the Commission. <br />Sandy Tarmo — asked if the commission had any new business to discuss. <br />Meeting Adjourned @ 5:00 pm <br />
