CITY OF ;IVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL COUNCILMEMBER~ Minutes of: Time of Meeting: Place of Meeting: Date of Meeting: Regular Meeting of the City Council 2 p.m. Art Pick Council Chamber, City Hall October 23, 2001 WARDS Roll Call: The City Council meeting was called to order at 2 p.m. CLOSED SESSION The Mayor and City Council recessed to the City Council Board Room for a closed session pursuant to Government Code §54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning one case of existing litigation in which disclosure would adversely affect service of process or settlement. RECESS The City Council recessed at 2:10 p.m. and reconvened at 3 p.m. DISCUSSION CALENDAR Mayor Loveridge excused himself and Mayor Pro Tempore Laura Pearson assumed the chair and presided. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY - PHASE II ANALYSIS Following discussion, the City Council (1) received and ordered filed John Husing's Economic Development Issues Phase II - Analysis Repod; and (2) directed staff to return with the Phase III - Recommendations Report upon completion of the report by Dr. John Husing. RECESS The City Council recessed at 4:50 p.m. and reconvened at 6:15 p.m. with all members present and with Mayor Loveridge presiding. REPORT FROM BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES President Paul Fick presented a report on the activities of the Board of Library Trustees. Following discussion, the City Council thanked Mr. Fick for the reporL The Invocation was given by Councilmember Adkison. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. CELEBRATING RIVERSIDE Councilmember Kane recognized Mr. Richard and Mrs. Margaret Burns, Ms. Kathy Jiles, and Mr. Ronald "Gus" Atwell for working to improve the neighborhoods in Ward 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE Michael Morales spoke regarding Charter Communications. Barbara Purvis spoke regarding the Brown Act. 67-135 Present Motion Second All Ayes
