CITY OF ;IVERSIDE <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER~ <br /> <br />Minutes of: <br />Time of Meeting: <br />Place of Meeting: <br />Date of Meeting: <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the City Council <br />2 p.m. <br />Art Pick Council Chamber, City Hall <br />October 23, 2001 <br /> <br />WARDS <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />The City Council meeting was called to order at 2 p.m. <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION <br />The Mayor and City Council recessed to the City Council Board Room for a <br />closed session pursuant to Government Code §54956.9 to confer with and/or <br />receive advice from legal counsel concerning one case of existing litigation in <br />which disclosure would adversely affect service of process or settlement. <br /> <br />RECESS <br />The City Council recessed at 2:10 p.m. and reconvened at 3 p.m. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION CALENDAR <br /> <br />Mayor Loveridge excused himself and Mayor Pro Tempore Laura Pearson <br />assumed the chair and presided. <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY - PHASE II ANALYSIS <br />Following discussion, the City Council (1) received and ordered filed John <br />Husing's Economic Development Issues Phase II - Analysis Repod; and <br />(2) directed staff to return with the Phase III - Recommendations Report upon <br />completion of the report by Dr. John Husing. <br /> <br />RECESS <br />The City Council recessed at 4:50 p.m. and reconvened at 6:15 p.m. with all <br />members present and with Mayor Loveridge presiding. <br /> <br />REPORT FROM BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br />President Paul Fick presented a report on the activities of the Board of <br />Library Trustees. Following discussion, the City Council thanked Mr. Fick for <br />the reporL <br /> <br />The Invocation was given by Councilmember Adkison. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. <br /> <br />CELEBRATING RIVERSIDE <br />Councilmember Kane recognized Mr. Richard and Mrs. Margaret Burns, <br />Ms. Kathy Jiles, and Mr. Ronald "Gus" Atwell for working to improve the <br />neighborhoods in Ward 4. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE <br />Michael Morales spoke regarding Charter Communications.
