CITY OF-IIVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL COUNCILMEMBER,~ Minutes of: Time of Meeting: Place of Meeting: Date of Meeting: Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council 12 Noon Mayor's Ceremonial Room September 4, 2001 WARDS Roll Call: Mayor Loveridge called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m. CITY MANAGER PROFILE The Mayor and City Council met with representatives of employee union groups regarding the profile being developed relative to the City Manager recruitment. The Mayor and City Council recessed at 12:45 p.m. and reconvened at 1 p.m. in the City Council Board Room. CLOSED SESSIONS - CANCELLED IN PART The Mayor and City Council recessed for closed sessions pursuant to Government Code §54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning two cases of anticipated litigation. The closed sessions pursuant to Government Code §54957 to consider recruitment and hiring of City Manager and pursuant to Government Code §54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning a third case of anticipated litigation were cancelled. Following the closed sessions, Supervising Deputy City Attorney Eileen Teichert announced that during closed session the City Council voted unanimously to initiate an action relative to the closed session pursuant to Government Code §54956.9 to confer with and/or receive advice from legal counsel concerning one case of anticipated litigation and that the particulars of that action are not disclosed at present but once the action is formally commenced it will be disclosed to any person upon inquiry unless to do so would jeopardize the City's ability to effectuate service of process on one or more unserved parties or to do so would jeopardize its ability to conclude existing settlement negotiations to its advantage.
