CITY 01; AVERSIDE <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> <br />Minutes of: <br />Time of Meeting: <br />Place of Meeting: <br />Date of Meeting: <br /> <br />Regular Meeting of the City Council <br />9 a.m. <br />Art Pick Council Chamber, City Hall <br />July 24, 2001 <br /> <br />WARDS <br /> <br />Roll Call: <br /> <br />The Invocation was given by Councilmember Thompson who asked for a moment of <br />silence in memory of the passing of Jackie Cardelucci. <br /> <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. <br /> <br />CITY SPIRIT AWARD <br />Mayor Loveridge presented the 2000 City Spirit Award to Victor Miceli. <br /> <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />Mayor Loveridge presented a Proclamation to the Riverside Police Department <br />proclaiming Tuesday, August 7, 2001, as National Night Out. <br /> <br />NATIONAL NIGHT OUT <br />Following discussion relative to National Night Out, a nationwide crime and drag <br />prevention awareness event, the City Council approved the recommendation of the <br />City Council Public Safety Committee to continue involvement and participation in <br />National Night Out. <br /> <br />STAFF iNTRODUCTIONS <br />City Attorney Stan Yamamoto called on Supervising Deputy City Attorneys Eileen <br />Teichert and Gregory Priamos who introduced new Deputy City Attorneys Regina <br />Danner and Ken Hardy. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for <br />consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each <br />item. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br />The Minutes of the Meeting of July 10, 2001, were approved as presented. <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />ZONiNG CASE CU-017-612 (REVISED) - 5500 ALESSANDRO <br />The City Council upheld the action of the Planning Commission in approving with <br />modifications and subject to conditions the request of Charles Brown on behalf of <br />First Baptist Church of Riverside for a conditional use permit to add approximately <br />22,080 square feet to the existing church building to include additional Sunday school <br />rooms, a gymnasium, and church offices and to construct a new 63,000-square-foot <br />sanctuary building and associated parking at 5500 Alessandro Boulevard situated on <br />the southeasterly comer of Alessandro Boulevard and Fairview Avenue, in Zone R-1- <br />125; upheld the Planning Commission's determination that the proposal would not <br />have a significant effect on the environment; concurred in the adoption of a Mitigated <br /> <br /> 8%14 <br /> <br />Present <br /> <br />Motion <br />Second <br />All Ayes <br /> <br />Motion <br />Second <br />All Ayes <br /> <br /> <br />
