J � RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES Board Memorandum P U B L I C U T I L I T I E S BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES DATE: SEPTEMBER 26, 2016 ITEM NO: 15 SUBJECT: ACTION PLAN IN RESPONSE TO RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE HOMETOWN CONNECTIONS ORGANIZATIONAL REVIEW ISSUES: Receive, review, and provide input on the Action Plans prepared by staff to implement recommendations from the recently presented Performance Audit and Financial Expenditure Review of the Public Utilities Department; and, direct staff to return in six months with a status update of the Action Plans. RECOMMENDATIONS: That the Board of Public Utilities: Receive, review, and provide input on the Action Plan to implement recommendations from the Hometown Connections Organizational Review of the Public Utilities Department; and 2. Direct staff to return in six months with a status update on the Action Plans. BACKGROUND: On April 25, 2016, the Hometown Connections Organizational Review of the Public Utilities Department was presented to the Board of Public Utilities. Subsequent to this review, an external performance audit was completed and presented to the Board and City Council on July 25 and July 26, 2016, respectively. A number of the recommendations between the reviews overlap. The Action Plan (Attachment 1) will be used by staff to track progress in implementing the consultant's recommendations. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with review of the Action Plan at this time. Authorization for expenditure of funds, subject to Public Utilities Board oversight, will be brought back at a later date on a case by case basis. Prepared by: Kevin S.
