RPU -7425 TO TRAUTWEIN CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. OF RIVERSIDE, <br />CALIFORNIA, IN THE AMOUNT OF $453,768 — WORK ORDER NO. 1703247 FOR <br />$611,000 — COSTS WILL BE REIMBURSED BY SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY <br />TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION — UTILITY AGREEMENT NO. 23786 DATED MAY <br />26, 2016 <br />ISSUES: <br />Approve the: 1) Award Bid No. RPU -7425 to Trautwein Construction Co., Inc., of Riverside, California, for <br />the construction of the Interstate 215 Barton Road Interchange 48 -inch Water Pipeline Relocation and <br />Encasement Project in the amount of $453,768; and 2) Approve the capital expenditure of $611,000 for <br />Work Order No. 1703247. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />That the Board of Public Utilities: <br />Award a contract for the construction of the Interstate 215 Barton Road Interchange 48 -inch <br />Water Pipeline Relocation and Encasement Project — Bid No. RPU -7425 to the lowest <br />responsive and responsible bidder, Trautwein Construction Co., Inc., of Riverside, California, in <br />the amount of $453,768; and <br />2. Approve the capital expenditure of $611,000 for Work Order No. 1703247, which includes all <br />design, construction, contract administration, inspection and construction contingency costs for <br />the 1 -215 Barton Road Interchange 48 -inch Water Pipeline Relocation and Encasement Project. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />San Bernardino County Transportation Commission (SANBAG) in conjunction with Caltrans and the <br />Cities of Colton and Grand Terrace will undertake improvements to the Barton Road Interchange on <br />Interstate 215 (1 -215) located in the City of Grand Terrace and partially in the City of Colton. This project, <br />known as the 1 -215 Barton Road Interchange, includes bridge improvements, realignment of on -ramps <br />and off -ramps and modifications to local streets. <br />Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) owns and operates a 48 -inch water transmission pipeline that crosses 1- <br />215 near this project and is in conflict with the proposed off -ramp improvements. <br />On March 14, 2016, the Board of Public Utilities recommended that the City Council approve Utility <br />Agreement No. 23786 (Agreement) with SANBAG for the pipeline relocation work. City Council <br />subsequently approved the Agreement during their meeting on April 19, 2016. The terms of the <br />Agreement stipulate that SANBAG will reimburse RPU for the pipeline relocation costs. <br />
