Following adjoumment of the meetings, the body reconvened as the City Council. PUBLIC HEARINGS AT 3 P.M. ZONING CASE CU-030-956 - 9663 RUDICILL - APPEAL DENIED 3 P.M.--Hearing was called on the appeal of Cathy Budel from the decision of the Planning Commission in denying her request for a one-year retroactive time extension for a conditional use permit to allow additional time to complete the required conditions of approval for an automobile impound yard and towing business on approximately 1.3 acres developed with two buildings at 9663 Rudicill Street, situated at the northeasterly comer of Rudicill and Myers Streets, in Zone M-1. In conjunction with conditional use permits, the City Council is authorized to grant variances to the Zoning Ordinance as deemed appropriate. No one was present wishing to speak on the matter. No protests, written or oral, were presented. Following discussion, the public hearing was officially closed. The City Council upheld the action of the Planning Commission in denying the appeal based on findings outlined in the written staff report. ZONING CASE RZ-004-990 - 3065-3085 VAN BUREN - CONTINUED 3 P .M.--Further heanng was called on the proposal of the City of Riverside to place approximately 1.33 acres of vacant land at 3065-3085 Van Buren Boulevard located approximately 1,300 feet southeasterly of the intersection of Indiana Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard in Zone MP and remove same from Zones C-3-X-20. At the request of the property owner the public hearing was continued to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 1999. DISCUSSION CALENDAR Councilmembers Defenbaugh and Beaty were excused during the following presentation. MAYORS' INSTITUTE ON CITY DESIGN Mayor Loveridge reported on the Mayors' Institute on City Design held October 6-8, 1999, in Charlottesville, Virginia. No formal action was required or taken.
