COMMENTS The Mayor and City Council reflected on the events of October 6, 1998. PRESENTATION Mayor Loveridge called upon City Manager John Holmes to present a Team Award for Excellence to the Public Utilities Department, Power Resources Division, in recognition and appreciation of their outstanding performance and teamwork. Councilmember Clifford left the dais at this time. A CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item; with the item regarding the petition to the Federal Communications Commission pulled from the agenda to allow for further staff review. CITY MANAGER BID 5664 - MADISON STREET LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS - LINCOLN TO EVANS The City Council (1) awarded Bid 5664 to Mariposa Horticulture Enterprises, Inc., in the amount of $168,655 (Project Account 9726300885-44044600) for Madison Street Landscape Improvements from Lincoln Avenue to Evans Street; and (2) authorized the preparation of appropriate contract documents for execution by the City Manager or his designee. LOCAL HISTORY RESOURCE CENTER - GRANT APPLICATION - SUPPL. APPROPRIATION The City Council (1) approved the submittal of a second-year grant application to the State Library for Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds to operate the Riverside Local History Resource Center CRLHRC) through September 30, 2000; (2) authorized the City Manager or his designee to execute all necessary documents; (3) authorized the Library Director to fill the two grant-funded Management Intern positions; and (4) authorized the $228,899 increase in estimated revenue and the increase in the appropriation budget by the same amount to the proper expenditure accounts upon notification of grant award.
