<br />:CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS - CONSOLIDATED REGULAR AND SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
<br />I
<br />:This being the time and place fixed for the report of the City Clerk on the canvass of
<br />lthe returns of the Consolidated Regular and Special Municipal Elections held on the
<br />13rd day of November, 1981, the Mayor called upon the City Clerk to read the results of
<br />Isaid canvass of returns of said election and the absentee votes cast at said election,
<br />:as heretofore authorized by Resolution of the City Council. Following presentation of
<br />'the certification of the results by the City Clerk, the following actions were taken:
<br />
<br />CITY OF RIVERSIDE
<br />
<br />Resolution No. 14552 of the City Council of the City of Riverside, California,
<br />Reciting the Fact of the Consolidated General and Special Municipal Election Held
<br />in Said City on the 3rd Day of November, 1981, Declaring the Results Thereof; and
<br />Setting Forth Such Other Matters as are Provided by Law, was presented; which
<br />declared that, as the result of said election, a majority of the qualified voters
<br />voting on proposed City Charter Measure D relating to the revised City Charter
<br />voted in favor thereof and said Measure D was declared to have carried; that less
<br />than two-thirds of the qualified voters voting on Hotel, Motel Room Rent Measure E
<br />relating to the proposed increase in the transient occupancy tax (commonly referred
<br />to as the Hotel Motel Bed-Room Tax) voted in favor of said tax increase and said
<br />Measure E was declared not to have carried; that Ab Brown was elected as the Mayor
<br />of the City of Riverside, Robert E. Bowers was elected as Member of the City Council
<br />from the Fourth Ward, and Sam Digati was elected as Member of the City Council from
<br />the Sixth Ward, each to serve for the full term of four years; and further declaring
<br />that Edwin G. Shepard and Hazel M. Russell were the two candidates receiving the
<br />highest number of votes cast for Member of the City Council in Ward Two, but inas-
<br />much as no one received a majority of the votes cast, a Special Municipal Election
<br />would be. conducted in not less than 45 days nor more than 70 days; and the title of
<br />the Resolution having been read, and further reading waived by the unanimous consent
<br />of Councilmembers present, was adopted and ordered set forth in full in the Minutes.

<br />Resolution No. 14553 of the City Council of the City of Riverside, California,
<br />Reciting the Fact of a Special Election Held Within the Boundaries of the Riverside
<br />Unified School District Concerning Proposed Charter Changes Affecting Said District;
<br />Declaring the Results Thereof; and Setting Forth Such Other Matters as are Provided
<br />by Law, was presented; which declared that, as the result of said election, a
<br />majority of the voters of t~e Riverside Unified School District voted in favor of
<br />Riverside Unified School District Measure F relating to proposed Riverside City
<br />Charter revisions affecting the Riverside Unified School District and
<br />therefore approved said Charter changes and said Measure F was declared
<br />to have carried; and the title of the Resolution having been read, and further
<br />reading waived by the unanimous consent of Councilmembers present, was adopted and
<br />ordered set forth in full in the Minutes.

<br />ORDERING, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION - RESOLUTION
<br />Resolution No. 14554 of the City Council of the City of Riverside, California,
<br />Ordering, Calling, Providing for and Giving Notice of a Special Municipal Election
<br />to be Held January 12, 1982, in the Second Ward of the City of Riverside for the
<br />Purpose of Electing One Member of the City Council of Said City of Riverside From
<br />Said Ward, was presented; and the title having been read, and further reading
<br />waived by the unanimous consent of Councilmembers present, was adopted.
