<br /> The Chair recognized the presence in the audience of Bob Johnston representing the ,.
<br /> Riverside Chamber of Commerce, John Guthrie representing the Arlington Chamber of
<br /> 'Commerce and Dennis Johnson representing the La Sierra Chamber of Commerce.
<br />
<br /> Mayor Brown announced that the reason for Councilman Shepard's absence today is because
<br /> he is in Boston on official RTA business.
<br />
<br /> Councilman Bowers announced that he will be absent from this afternoon's Council
<br /> meeting as he will be attending the League of California Cities Annual Conference in
<br /> San Diego.
<br />

<br /> CONSENT CALENDAR
<br /> The following items were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to
<br /> those items listed on the Consent Calendar and as submitted to the City Council for
<br /> consideration with the exception of Tract Map 9056 (Revision #2), application for Motion
<br /> State Energy Conservation Assistance loan, and the All River Plan, all of which were Second ~X~

<br /> ZONING CASE C-5-823 - EAST CHICAGO AVENUE ASSOCIATES, ET AL. - 1735 SPRUCE STREET
<br /> ~A communication was presented from the City Planning Commission advising that, on
<br /> 'Septem er 23, 1982, the Commission, by a vote of 9 ayes to 0 noes, approved subject to
<br /> ,conditions the request of East Chicago Avenue Associates, et al., Zoning Case
<br /> ~C-5-823, for a conditional use permit to establish, operate and maintain a weight
<br /> ,reduction clinic on property situated on the northwesterly corner of Chicago Avenue
<br /> ;and Spruce Street, located at 1735 Spruce Street, in Zone M-i; and determined that the
<br /> ~proposal would not have a significant adverse environmental effect. It was determined
<br /> |
<br /> ~that the City Council would not set the matter for public hearing.

<br /> ZONING CASE V-49-823 - W. HEATH AND COMPANY, ET AL. - 3439 ARLINGTON AVENUE
<br /> A coramunication was presented from the Board of Zoning Adjustment advising that, on
<br /> October 4, 1982, the Board considered the request of W. Heath and Company, et al.,
<br /> Zoning Case V-49-823, for a variance to (1) change the display face and retain an
<br /> approximately 157-square-foot freestanding identification sign 44 feet high, within a
<br /> 'shopping center where only one 125-square-foot in area freestanding identification
<br /> sign not higher than 30 feet identifying not more than two tenants is allowed; and
<br /> (2) retain more than one freestanding sign; on property situated on the northeasterly
<br /> corner of Arlington Avenue and the Riverside Freeway, located at 3439 Arlington Avenue,
<br /> in Zone C-3; and, by a vote of 6 ayes to 0 noes and 1 abstention, approved the follow-
<br /> ~ing subject to conditions: To change the face of an existing nonconforming freestand-
<br /> 'in
<br /> , g identification sign to contain 125 square feet in area not higher than 30 feet;
<br /> 'and
<br /> , to remove the lower portion of the sign. The Planning Department recommended
<br /> ~denial of the request. It was determined that the City Council would not set the
<br /> ~matter for public hearing.
