To that end and consistent with staff's
recommendations, the Board of Public Utilities approved Work Orders No. 1521820, 1501824, and
1521822 for the Plaza Substation 4kV to 12kV Conversion of circuits 452, 454, and 456, respectively, on
September 18, 2015. The extension of the Plaza Substation underground getaway conduits is needed to
provide a route for the new Plaza 12kV Circuit 1451, which will take over the load currently served by the
existing 4kV Circuits 452, 454, and 456. The scope of work for this project is part of the overall effort to
upgrade existing 4kV facilities to 12kV at the Plaza substation in order to improve system capacity,
efficiency and reliability to the customers in the area.
The work includes the installation of approximately 236 trench feet of conduit, 3,640 circuit feet of feeder
cable, and related underground distribution facilities.
Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) engineering staff performed the design to eliminate any negative visual
impacts to the project and surrounding area, with sensitivity to the existing neighborhood, and within City
Planning guidelines for the designated area of the project.
The project breakdown is proposed as follows:
Project Breakdown
Engineering Performed By:
RPU engineering staff
Civil Construction Performed By:
RPU Contractor's Panel
Electrical Work Performed By:
RPU field forces
Anticipated Start Date:
July 11, 2016
Anticipated Duration:
4 weeks
Coordination Required With:
RPU Field Superintendent
Reimbursements:
None
