CI~'Y OF RIVERSIDE <br /> <br /> COUNCILM <br /> <br /> Minutes of Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council <br /> Date of Meeting: June 5, 1984 <br /> Time of Meeting: 8:00 A.M. <br /> Place of Meeting: Council Chamber, City Hall WARDS <br /> <br /> Mayor Brown called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Ci=7 Council to order, and <br /> turned the meeting over to Councilman Bowers, Chairman of the Redevelopmen= Agency, <br /> who conducted =he following Join= public hearing before the City Council and the <br /> Redevelopmen= Agency. <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE ClTY COUNCIL AT 8:00 A.M. <br /> <br /> FURTHER HEARING - JOINT PUBLIC HEARING WITH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY - SALE OF THE MISSION <br /> INN BY THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br />8:00 A.M.--Further joint hearing of the City Council and the Redevelopmen= Agency was <br />called to consider the proposed sale by the Redevelopmen= Agency of the }fission lnn, <br />located in the Riverside Mall and White Park Redevelopmen= Project, containing approxi-, <br />mately 108,900 square feet and occupying the city block bounded by Seventh Street on <br />the sou=h, Orange Street on the east, Sixth Street on ~he nor=h, and Main Street on <br />the west, pursuant to =he Co-~,uniny Redevelopment Law of the Stare of California. The <br />hearing had been continued from May 29, 1984, when it was the decision of the City <br />Council and the Redevelopmen= Agency to limit consideration to =he proposals submitted <br />by ~he Brent and Maan Corpora=ion groups, and =he Redevelopmen= Agency Director and <br />the City Manager were requested to prepare and present additional information. Agency <br />Counsel Charles Vose discussed the s=aEus of the two proposals relative to disposition <br />and development agreements. The City Manager and the Finance Director presented <br />information relative to =he financial status and strength of the two groups. The <br />Executive Director of the Redevelopmen= Agency presented information relative to the <br />estimated effect of each proposal on =he financial position of the Agency, the protec- <br />tion and control of artira=is and =he Mission Inn structure, and =he amount of space <br />'allotted =o the museum. Representatives of the Allan A. Bren= group, the Maan lnn <br />Development Corporation group and interested persons present were given an opportunity <br />.to make additional comments. <br /> <br /> PETITION FROM FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE CLASS OF LIBERTY SCHOOL - REFERRED TO COMMITTEE <br />,At this time, Mayor Brown assumed the Chair and presided, and the City Council accepted~ <br />~a petition from =he Fourth and Fifth Grade class from Liberty School in which the <br />class requests the City Council =o consider the selection of an official City animal. <br />| Following discussion, and in consideration of the recommendanion of Councilman Renck, <br />;=he City Council referred the petition to the City Council Recreation and Cultural <br />~Committee with the recommendation that the Committee contact City schools regarding a <br />,possible contest in the fall relative to selection of a reco~nended City animal. <br /> <br />,Chairman Bowers then announced the resumption of the above hearing. <br /> <br />iCONTINUATION OF PUBLIC HEARING WITH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY - SALE OF THE MISSION INN BY <br />~THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br />~The joint public hearing was again proceeded with; and, after everyone present wishing <br />,to speak had been heard, the hearing was officially closed.
