<br />BUDGET DISCUSSION
<br />Councilman Renck called the meeting to order in the absence of Mayor Brown and Mayor
<br />Pro Tempore Peterson, and the City Council continued its consideration of the
<br />Proposed Budget for the City of Riverside for the Fiscal Year 1985-86, as prepared
<br />and submitted by the City Manager.
<br />
<br />PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
<br />The Park and Recreation Director presented the proposed budSet for the Park and
<br />Recreation Department, reviewed departmental activities, and answered questions from
<br />the City Council. Mr. Clyde Reed, representing the Park and Recreation Commission,
<br />presented the Commission's recommended supplemental budget request for additional
<br />park refurbishment funds. Following discussion, the City Council tentatively
<br />approved the Park and Recreation Department budget as it appears on pages 323
<br />through 360 of the Program Budget.

<br />CITY CLERK, CITY MANAGER, LEGAL, CITY COUNCIL
<br />The Budget Officer presented the proposed budgets of the City Clerk, City Manager,
<br />Legal Department and City Council, and the following actions were taken:
<br />
<br />Tentative approval was given the proposed budget of the City Clerk, as
<br />presented on pages 5 through 12 of the Program Budget.
<br />
<br />The proposed budEetof the City Manager, as presented on pages 13 through 17 of
<br />the Program Budget, was tentatively approved.
<br />
<br />The City Council gave tentative approval to the proposed budget of the Legal
<br />Department, as presented on page 123 Of the Program Budget.
<br />
<br />The proposed budget for the City Council, as it appears on page 3 of the
<br />Program Budget, was given tentative approval.
<br />
<br />Mayor Brown entered at this time.
<br />
<br />MAYOR
<br />The proposed budget of the office of the Mayor was presented by the Budget Officer,
<br />and briefly discussed by Mayor Brown. The City Council tentatively approved the
<br />proposed budget as it appears on page 1 of the Program Budget.
<br />
<br />Mayor Brown excused himself at this time.
<br />
<br />NON-DEPARTMENTAL BUDGET
<br />The Budget Officer presented the Non-Departmental Budget, covering funding for
<br />Animal Regulation, Social and Cultural Services, Visitor and Convention Bureau,
<br />Promotion and Publicity, Sundry General Government, Riverside Arts Foundation,
<br />Reserves, Street Lighting Service, Debt Service and Contract Payments on the 1982-83
<br />Certificates of Participation. Following discussion, the City Council gave
<br />tentative approval to the Non-Departmental Budget, as presented on pages 125 through
<br />141 of the Program Budget.

<br />BUDGET DISCUSSION SCHEDULE
<br />Without formal m~tion, it was the decision of the City Council to consider
<br />Supplemental Budget requests On Wednesday, June 19, 1985, at 3 p.m.
<br />
<br />ADJOURNMENT
<br />At 4:55 p.m., the City Council adjourned to an Adjourned Regular Meeting to be held
<br />on Friday, June 14, 1985, at 2:30 p.m., in the Central Library Auditorium,
<br />3581 Seventh Street.
