Commission on AgingMeeting <br />Tuesday, May 10, 2016 <br />4:00 –5:30 PM <br />Ysmael Villegas Community Center <br />3091 Esperanza Street, Riverside, 92504 <br />Minutes: <br />Call to Order: 4:12pm <br />Pledge of Allegiance: <br />Commissioners in attendance:Sandy Tarmo,Shari Fleischman,Cheryl Tavaglione, Julie <br />Brown-Tartaglino, Vicki Broach, Bob Reevesand Krista Dixon <br />Guests in attendance:Rich Gardner, Grace Abboud and Don Coon <br />Guest Introductions: <br />Don Coon-discussed the volunteer program and the need for tutors. Also, shared that the <br />Family Service Association –mobile fresh produce van and the need for volunteers to assist in <br />distributing produce/vegetables. <br />Commissioner Introductions: <br />Approval of Minutes: <br />Vicki Broach 1and Julie Tartaglino 2-stand as corrected. Bob Reeves suggested a word <br />stnd <br />correction be made to the second page. <br />Sandy Tarmo -sharedthat item #3 on the agenda (health and Fitness event) is being postponed <br />until the spring of 2017, due to other similar events taking place in the fall. A committee <br />meeting will take place in the fall(November) to further discuss this event. <br />Shari Fleishman–discussed the purpose of the Boat Float Event–this is confirmed for <br />Novemberfrom 3:30 to 6:00 pm or so. Fairmont Boathouse with vendors, music, etc. <br />Residents who are ill, those who have passed away will be recognized, as well as acknowledging <br />family members. 200 floatable boats will be launched into the water. Two groups will be <br />assisting in making the boats this year (Purple city taskforce and Meridian senior living). Riv. Art <br />Museum donating paper goods to make boats. <br />Sandy Tarmo–discussed the upcoming Senior Conf. at Janet Goeske and the need for <br />commissioners to volunteer at the COA table. <br />
