Commission on AgingMeeting Tuesday, May 10, 2016 4:00 –5:30 PM Ysmael Villegas Community Center 3091 Esperanza Street, Riverside, 92504 Minutes: Call to Order: 4:12pm Pledge of Allegiance: Commissioners in attendance:Sandy Tarmo,Shari Fleischman,Cheryl Tavaglione, Julie Brown-Tartaglino, Vicki Broach, Bob Reevesand Krista Dixon Guests in attendance:Rich Gardner, Grace Abboud and Don Coon Guest Introductions: Don Coon-discussed the volunteer program and the need for tutors. Also, shared that the Family Service Association –mobile fresh produce van and the need for volunteers to assist in distributing produce/vegetables. Commissioner Introductions: Approval of Minutes: Vicki Broach 1and Julie Tartaglino 2-stand as corrected. Bob Reeves suggested a word stnd correction be made to the second page. Sandy Tarmo -sharedthat item #3 on the agenda (health and Fitness event) is being postponed until the spring of 2017, due to other similar events taking place in the fall. A committee meeting will take place in the fall(November) to further discuss this event. Shari Fleishman–discussed the purpose of the Boat Float Event–this is confirmed for Novemberfrom 3:30 to 6:00 pm or so. Fairmont Boathouse with vendors, music, etc. Residents who are ill, those who have passed away will be recognized, as well as acknowledging family members. 200 floatable boats will be launched into the water. Two groups will be assisting in making the boats this year (Purple city taskforce and Meridian senior living). Riv. Art Museum donating paper goods to make boats. Sandy Tarmo–discussed the upcoming Senior Conf. at Janet Goeske and the need for commissioners to volunteer at the COA table.
