CRY OF RIVERSIDE COUNCI LM EMBERS \ ',2, ', \ '~,~, Date of Meeting: June 2, 1988 Time of Meeting 1 P M \~< ~ ~\ ~\ X X %X 'X 'X 'X , BUDGET DISCUSSION Mayor Broom called the meeting to order, and announced that discussion would commence on the Preliminary Budget for the City of Riverside for the Fiscal Year 1988-89, as pre- pared and submitted by the City Manager. The City ~nager briefly discussed the general financial position of the City, presented the proposed method of budget review and submitted a list of Supplemental Budget Re- quests. Assistant to City Manager Tremont discussed the procedures used in preparation of the Preliminary Budget, and answered questions from the City Council. POLICE DEPARTMENT The Police Chief presented the proposed budget of the Police Department, as submitted in the Preliminary Budget and the Supplemental Budget Requests. LIBRARY DEPARTMENT The proposed budget of the Library Department, as submitted in the Preliminary Budget and the Supplemental Budget Requests, was presented by the Library Director. FIRE DEPARTMENT The Fire Chief presented the Fire Department proposed budget, as submitted in the Prelim- inary Budget and the Supplemental Budget Requests. PLANMING DEPARTMENT The Planning Director presented the proposed budget of the Planning Department, as sub- mitted in the Preliminary Budget and the Supplemental Budget Requests. NONDEPARTMENTAL The Assistant to City Manager presented the proposed Nondepartmental Budget, as submit- ted in Pages 114 through 132 of the Preliminary Budget and in the list of Supplemental Budget Requests; and advised the City Council that Mr. Condos, Executive Director of the Visitors & Convention Bureau, would present the Bureau's portion of the proposed budget at a later meeting. INSURANCE TRUST FUNDS The Finance Director presented the proposed budget of the Insurance Trust Funds, as sub- mitted in the Preliminary Budget on pages 455 through 460. Following discussion, the City Council gave tentative approval to the proposed basic Motion ,Xe budgets discussed above as presented by the office of the City Manager. Second JX~ All Ayes BUDGET DISCUSSION SCHEDULE It was the decision of the City Council to consider those portions of the budget sched- uled for review on Monday, June 13, 1988, on Tuesday, June 14, 1988, following the pub- lic hearings.
