<br />The Chair recognized the presence in the audience of Doug Matnon representing the River-
<br />side and Hunter Park-Northside Chambers of Commerce, Keith Watson representing the Ar-
<br />lington Chamber of Commerce and Jim Henderson representing the University-Canyon Crest
<br />Chamber of Commerce.

<br />PRESENTATION
<br />Mayor Brown called on Terry Nielsen, Parks Superintendent, who introduced Eric Older
<br />from the California Department of Forestry, who presented a flag and plaque to the Mayor
<br />and the City Council designating the City of Riverside as Tree City U.S.A.--Riverside
<br />bding the only city in the trt-county area to receive this award.
<br />
<br />CONSENT CALENDAR
<br />The following items were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to
<br />those items listed on the Consent Calendar and as submitted to the City Council for con-
<br />sideration; with the exception of the reports regarding proposed behavioral science fa-
<br />cility adjacent to Evans Sports Complex and monthly sewer service charges, both of which
<br />were removed to the Discussion Calendar.

<br />ZONING CASE C-2-645 (REVISED) - FRIENDSHIP MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH - 2962 MADISON
<br />A communication was presented from the City Planning Commission advising that, on
<br />July 7, 1988, the Commission, by a vote of 7 ayes to 0 noes, approved subject to condi-
<br />tions the request of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Zoning Case C-2-645 (Re-
<br />vised), for a revised conditional use permit to add a dining room and kitchen facilities
<br />to the existing church ~rithin an approximately 2,400-square-foot addition at 2962 Madi-
<br />son Street, situated on the westerly corner of Madison Street and Freda Avenue, in Zones
<br />R-3 ~nd R-1-65; and determined that the proposal would not have a significant adverse ef-
<br />fect on the environment. It was determined that the City Council would not set the mat-
<br />ter for public hearing.

<br />ZONING CASE C-21-723 (REVISED) - CASTLE PARK DEVELOPMENT CO., INC. - 3500 POLK
<br />A communication was presented from the City Planning Commission advising that, on
<br />July 7, 1988, the Commission, by a vote of 7 ayes to 0 noes, approved subject to condi-
<br />tions the request of Castle Park Development Company, Inc., Zoning Case C-21-723 (Re-
<br />vised), for a revised conditional use permit to install additional amusement rides and
<br />additional off-street parking spaces within the existing amusement park at 3500 Polk
<br />Street, situated on the west corner of Polk Street and Diana Avenue, in Zone R-1-65; and
<br />determined that the proposal would not have a significant adverse effect on the environ-
<br />ment. It was determined that the City Council would not set the matter for public hear-
<br />ing.

<br /> ZONING CASE C-3-878 (REVISED) - WHEAT, OIL AND WINE MINISTRIES - 2024 CHICAGO
<br />A communication was presented from the City Planning Commission advising that, on
<br />July 7, 1988, the Commission, by a vote of 8 ayes to .0 noes, approved subject to condi-
<br />tions the request of Wheat, Oil and Wine Ministries, Zoning Case C-3-878 (Revised), for
<br />a revised conditional use permit to add approximately 1,870 square feet to the approved
<br />church area established within the existing industrial complex at 2024 Chicago Avenue,
<br />situated on the westerly side of Chicago Avenue approximately 600 feet northerly of
<br />Spruce Street, in Zones M-1-BP; and determined that the proposal would not have a signif-
<br />icant adverse effect on the environment. It was determined that the City Council would
<br />not set the matter for public hearing.
