The Invocation was given by Councilmember Clifford. Councilmember Thompson led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meetings of June 8, 1999, were approved as presented. Mayor Loveridge announced Councilmember Beaty is recovering from surgery resulting from the October 6, 1998, incident. PRESENTATION Mayor Loveridge presented Certificates of Appreciation to Police Detective Kevin Stanton and Police Officer Kelly Bangert, Public Safety Officers for the month of June 1999, who were honored by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce at Good Morning Riverside. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item; with Councilmember Pearson disqualifying herself from voting on the item relative to the Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP) due to a possible conflict of interest. CITY MANAGER BID 5630 - PAINTING AT VARIOUS COMMUNITY CENTERS/PARK SITES The City Council (1) awarded Bid 5630 to Alamo Painting in the amount of $38,300 for Base Bid Items I-A, I-B, I-C, and l-D, and Additive Items II-A, II-B, II- C, and II-D (Project Account 101-552200-440301-90077-009-007-597800) for exterior painting of the Bordwell, Bryant, Hunt, and Villegas Parks Community Centers, the Hunt Park pool bathhouse, Bordwell and Fairmount Parks gazebos, and interior painting of the Janet Goeske Senior Community Center ballroom; (2) authorized the Park and Recreation Director to issue Change Orders up to 50 percent of the base contract price for additional expenses and other related work as needed throughout the term of the contract; and (3) authorized the preparation of the appropriate contract documents for execution by the City Manager or his designee.
