<br />PRESENTATIONS
<br />
<br />David Matis from the California Department of Forestry presented a Tree City U.S.A.
<br />award and flag to the City of Riverside and to Terry Nielsen, on behalf of the Park and
<br />Recreation Department.
<br />
<br />Mayor Frizzel presented a Proclamation to Steve Aronson, President of the Inland Empire
<br />Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration, proclaiming May 6-12, 1991,
<br />as Public Service Recognition Week.
<br />
<br />The Chair recognized the presence in the audience of Esteban Soriano representing the
<br />Riverside Chamber of Co~m~erce, Rob Engleman representing the Arlington Chamber of Com-
<br />merce, Holly Gunuette representing the La Sierra Chamber of Commerce, Jeff Williams rep-
<br />resenting the Hunter Park-Northside Chamber of Commerce and Julie Branstetter represent-
<br />ing the University-Canyon Crest Chamber of Commerce.

<br />CONSENT CALENDAR
<br />The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for considera-
<br />tion, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item.

<br />BOARD OF ADMINISTRATIVE APPEALS AND ZONING ADJUSTMENT
<br />
<br />ZONING CASE V-162-878 (REVISED) - CONTRACT COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS - WEST CORNER OF INDIANA
<br />AND LA SIERRA - DENIED
<br />A communication was presented from the Board of Administrative Appeals and Zoning Ad-
<br />justment advising that, on April 15, 1991, the Board, by a vote of 7 ayes to 0 noes, de-
<br />nied the request of Contract Commercial Products, Zoning Case V-162-878 (Revised), for
<br />the following revised variance to add a new sign element to an existing freestanding
<br />identification sign for a commercial shopping center on an approximate 10.2-acre site
<br />situated at the west comer of Indiana and La Sierra Avenues in Zone C-2: to allow the
<br />expansion of the sign area of an existin8 approximately 84-square-foot, 25-foot-high
<br />freestanding pole sign identifying three tenants to include an additional approximate
<br />17-square-foot sign identifying the site and providing leasing information where no such
<br />sign is permitted. The Board's denial was upheld by the City Council.

<br />ZONING CASE V-170-901 - ANDY BODEWIN - 1062 AND 1107 OVERLOOK - MINOR VARIANCE
<br />A communication was presented from the Board of Administrative Appeals and Zoning Ad-
<br />Justment advising that, on April 15, 1991, the Board, by a vote of 7 ayes to 0 noes, ap-
<br />proved subject to conditions the request of Andy Bodewin, Zoning Case V-170-901, for the
<br />following minor variance to construct a six-foot-high wrought iron fence with pilasters
<br />within the required front yard setback for a single-family residence at 1062 and
<br />1107 Overlook Parkway, situated on the northerly side of Overlook Parkway southeasterly
<br />of Royal Hunt Ridge Drive, in Zone RC: to allow a six-foot-high wrought iron fence that
<br />encroaches up to approximately 30 feet into the required 30-foot front yard setback
<br />where a maximum four-foot-high fence is permitted. The Board's approval was upheld by
<br />the City Council.

<br />ZONING CASE V-181-901 - GLORIA TEMPLE RIC~ - 3581 ELMWOOD
<br />A c~maunication was presented from the Board of Administrative Appeals and Zoning Ad-
<br />Justment advising that, on April 15, 1991, the Board, by a vote of 6 ayes to ~0 noes and
<br />1 disqualification, approved subject to conditions the request of Gloria Temple Rich,
<br />Zoning Case V-181-901, for the following variances to construct an approximate 549-
<br />square-foo~ room addition connecting a single-family dwelling to a detached garage at
<br />3581 Elmwood Court, situated on the northeast side of Elmwood Court southeasterly of
<br />Riverside Avenue, in Zone R-1-65: (A) to allow the proposed room addition and garage to
