Motion ~X~ <br /> Second ~X <br /> ~ All Ayes <br /> <br /> PRESENTAT IONS <br /> <br /> ~Mayor Frizzel called on Fred Butler, Chairman of the Friends of California School for <br /> the Deaf Committee of the Magnolia Center Chamber of Commerce, who introduced Director <br /> Teresa Dorman and the Hands in Harmony choral group from the California School for the <br /> Deaf who presented some Christmas carols in sign language for the Mayor and City Council. <br /> <br /> Mayor Frizzel presented a Proclamation to Elizabeth R. Schreiber, Manager of the Gallaria <br /> at Tyler, to recognize her contributions in making the Gallaria accessible to persons <br /> l with disabilities. Mr. Chuck Smith, Chairman, City of Riverside advisory committee on <br /> 'disability issues, also spoke regarding Ms. Schreiber's contributions and thanked her, <br /> m on behalf of the committee, for all her work. Mr. Smith then discussed briefly the pub- <br /> lic access brochure which the com~ittee has developed and answered questions from the <br /> ! City Council. The City Council congratulated Mr. Smith for all his work. <br /> ~ Mayor Frtzzel called on Dave Willnon representing the Riverside and Downtown Chambers of <br /> Commerce, who introduced Chris McKnight representing the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, <br /> Tom Green representing the La Sierra Chamber of Commerce, Cheri Reynolds representing <br /> the Magnolia Center Chamber of Commerce, Cathy Brostrand representing the Hunter Park- <br /> Northside Chamber of Commerce and Janice Newman representing the University-Canyon Crest <br /> Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> The following items, presented to the City Council on the Consent Calendar for considera- <br /> tion, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item; with Motion {XI <br /> the exception of the report relative to commercial development adjacent to park prop- Second ~X~ <br /> erty at Central Avenue at Box Springs Boulevard, which was removed from the agenda. ~All Ayes <br /> <br />CITY PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />CASE VAC-5-912 - PROPOSED VACATION OF PORTIONS OF HORACE AND MAUDE <br />A communication was presented from the City Planning Commission advising that, on Novem- <br />ber 21, 1991, the Commission, by a vote of 5 ayes to 0 noes, approved subject to condi- <br />tions the request of the Riverside Unified School District, Case VAt-5-912, to vacate an <br />approximately seven-foot-wide by 187-foot-long portion of Horace Street, situated on the <br />southwesterly side of Horace Street northwesterly of Lincoln Avenue, and an approxi- <br />mately seven-foot-wide by 186-foot-long portion of Maude Street, situated on the south- <br />easterly side of Maude Street northwesterly of Lincoln Avenue; and determined that the <br />proposal would not have a significant adverse effect on the environment. The Public <br />Works Department was requested to furnish the necessary legal description, and the Legal <br />Department was authorized to prepare the appropriate resolution for City Council consid- <br />eration to set the matter for public hearing. <br /> <br />PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />TIME EXTENSION ON CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL - ZONING CASE R-12-889 - 4995-5015 LA SIERRA <br />A communication was presented from Tony Padilla requesting a time extension in which to <br />complete the conditions of approval under Zoning Case R-12-889, relating to the approxi- <br />mately 2.2 acres of land at 4995 through 5015 La Sierra Avenue, situated on the north- <br />east side of La Sierra Avenue approximately 200 feet north of Nebraska Avenue. The City <br />Council approved a zone change from Zone R-1-65 to Zones C-2-S-1-X on December 6, 1988; <br />and this is the second request for a time extension. This case has been active less <br />than five years and is eligible for a one-year time extension without a public hearing. <br />The time extension was granted to December 6, 1992, retroactive to December 6, 1991. <br /> <br />77-203 <br /> <br /> <br />
