The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL COUNCILMEMBER BEATY'S ABSENCES FROM MEETINGS Following discussion, the City Cotmcil excused Cotmcilmember Beaty's absence, due to illness, from the City Cotmcil meetings of April 27, May 4, and May 11, 1999. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meeting of April 27, 1999, were approved as presented. Councilmember Moore introduced the Rotary Club delegation from Fukushima, Chuo, Japan, who were presented with City pins by Mayor Loveridge. The Mayor and City Cotmcil received a Rotary Club banner and pins from the delegation. PRESENTATIONS Mayor Loveridge called upon City Manager John Holmes who presented a Team Award for Excellence Certificate to the Planning Department, Plan Check Division, in recognition and appreciation of their outstanding customer service contributions to the City. Mayor Loveridge called upon Public Utilities Director Bill Carnahan who was presented the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, Inc., (ASHRAE) Technology Award received for the Utilities Operation Center. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Cotmcil on the Consent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item.
