CITY OF RIVERSIDE Minutes of Regular Meeting of the City Council Date of Meeting: June 8, 1993 Time of Meeting: 9 A.M. Place of Meeting: Council Chamber, City Hall Roll Call: Mayor Frizzel asked for a moment of silence in commemoration of the passing of former Councilmember Jean Mansfield. The Invocation was given by Pastor Thomas Burdick, St. Cather- ine of Alexandria Catholic Church. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the Flag. Councilmember Defenbaugh entered at this time. Councilmember Defenbaugh requested that the Flag in front of City Hall be lowered to half mast for the next two days, in respect to former Councilmember Mansfield. MINUTES The Minutes of the Meetings of May 28, June i and June 2, 1993, were approved as submitted. The Chair recognized the presence in the audience of Steve Reeves representing the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Jolene Anderson representing the Downtown Chamber of Commerce, Don Harris representing the Hunter Park-Northside Chamber of Com- merce and Tom Green representing the La Sierra Chamber of Com- merce. PRESENTATIONS Mayor Frizzel called on Joan Letbetter of the Fire Department who introduced Bob Keller and Duane Morrison, Omaha Woodman Life Insurance Society, who presented Lifesaver Citations to representatives of the Fire Department and Goodhew Ambulance Service in recognition of and commendation for swift and cou- rageous action which saved the life of Sara Kruzan through dedication, training and agency cooperation. Mayor Frizzel called on Harold Duffy of the Public Works De- partment who assisted the Mayor in presenting $500 checks and Valuable and Distinguished Service Certificates to Arizona, Chemawa, Loma Vista, University Heights, Central, Gage, Sierra and Wells Middle Schools for participation in the Telephone Book Recycling Program. Further, Central Middle School re- ceived an additional check in the amount of $500 for having collected the most telephone books. The Mayor read a Proclamation proclaiming the week of June 14 as National Flag Week. CONSENT CALENDAR The following items, presented to the City Council on the Con- sent Calendar for consideration, were approved by one motion affirming the actions appropriate to each item.
